The 7 Layers of Creativity
Subject matter is the bottom layer. Six more sit on top of it, and they are where the work happens.
Most advice about creative work stops at the first layer. Pick a good subject, have a good idea, and the rest is supposed to follow. It does not follow, which is why two people can make something from the same starting material and get results that are nothing alike.
This ebook takes the version first sketched out in the newsletter and works through it properly: seven layers that sit between raw subject matter and a finished piece, what each one does, and how to tell which layer a piece is failing at.
It is written for people who make things and want a diagnostic. When something is not working and you cannot say why, the layers give you somewhere to look.

Why Constraints Make You More Creative, Not Less
Constraints do not limit the search. They make it small enough to finish.
